What are settlement services?

Canada has developed a network of immigrant serving organizations whose mission is to provide assistance to people who are learning to live in a new country.

Swan Valley Settlement and immigrant Services Inc. (SVSIS) is a not-for-profit organisation that serves the settlement needs of immigrants and newcomers to the Swan Valley area.  In addition to being a service provider we also liaise with other community groups and organisations to help improve services and information for immigrants and newcomers.

Here at SVSIS our aim is to help newcomers integrate into our community and to provide them with all the help and assistance they need to do so.

This office also provides assistance to newcomers to the Swan Valley community who are from other parts of Canada.

With our joint funding structure with Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada and our local municipality we are able to help each of the following categories of newcomers

  • All newcomers who have a Permanent Resident Card including Government Assisted Refugees (GARS), Joint Assisted Refugees (JARS) and Privately Sponsored Refugees (PARS)
  • Temporary Residents including Temporary Foreign Workers
  • International Students
  • Visitors
  • Canadian Citizens - including those born in Canada wanting local information for relocating to the Swan valley.
